The redesigned, two acre, Miller Park features a new stage, 77 trees, a central lawn, beautifully paved plazas, granite structures and café seating. The new park serves as a gathering space for all to enjoy with plenty of space to play and relax. The park also serves as a green festival venue for concerts, farmers markets and other events. As the trees mature, the park will only improve with increased shade for leisure activities, dining and just hanging out. Miller Park is a world class park that sets Chattanooga apart from other cities in Tennessee.
Located in downtown Chattanooga, next to City Hall and the Main Library sits Miller Park.
The park was designed as a large, welcoming, open space where all downtown residents can come together.
As part of the revitalized Innovation District, Chattanooga has focused on making Miller Park the center piece of the newly walkable downtown. Spackman Mossop Michaels and Eskew+Dumez+Ripple developed the design for this renovated jewel in the heart of the City.
The City and the design team recognized the importance of green infrastructure as a long-term investment strategy for this location. The project includes a variety of native species of trees including Overcup Oak, Tulip Poplar and Wild Fire Black Gum to name a few. The trees are planted in lightly compacted soil in Silva Cells throughout the park and surrounding perimeter.
We are thrilled to be part of this team to bring cutting edge design and long term sustainability to the City of Chattanooga.
