The Silva Cell portion of the Project 180 (Oklahoma City) Streetscape – Phase 3 began a couple of weeks ago. Installation Coordinator Pat Greeley was on site to conduct a contractor training and oversee the initial phase.
The entirety of Project 180 is 100 blocks long, encompassing 8.5 miles of streets and sidewalks. Phase 3 is 10 blocks long and includes all of Walker Ave., Sheridan Ave., California Ave. and Main Street.
There will be 160 trees planted in the Silva Cells for Phase 3, including Black Gum, Bald Cypress, Shumard Oak and Shantung Maple.
An ice storm prematurely halted the crew’s work after a day and a half, but they expect to resume again shortly.
The installation is being done by ValleyCrest, and the project was designed by the Office of James Burnett.
