Root Barriers
Root Barriers are patented mechanical guides that redirect tree roots down and away from hardscapes, preventing costly root damage while preserving the health and beauty of mature trees. They are used to line tree pits and other planting area to redirect roots down, away from the paving. They are used for linear, surround and root pruning applications on both new plantings and existing trees.
“Geomembranes” is a generic term that we use to describe two very similar products — BambooBarrier and Water Barrier — that are used for different purposes.
Bamboo Barriers prevents the unwanted spread of bamboo and other invasive species. The smooth surface of the Bamboo Barrier acts as a root stop, diverting the rhizome and preventing unchecked growth.
Water Barrier protects hardscapes and landscapes from subterranean water movement. When used around building foundations and medians, Water Barrier maintains soil/water equilibrium and prevents root intrusion.
All of our ArborTie products — regular webbing, complete kits, and bulk stakes and anchors — help support young trees as they grow and develop trunk strength.
The webbing comes in two types: green (900 lbs/408 kg tensile strength) and white (2,500 lbs./1,134 kg tensile strength). ArborTie is woven so that it won’t unravel easily once it’s cut, and it’s smooth so that (when properly tied with an ArborKnot) it will simply expand with the growing tree rather than girdling it like traditional wire and hose.
The staking and anchoring kits are all-in-one packages that include three lengths of ArborTie Green and three stakes or anchors for anchoring trees up to 6″ (15 cm) in caliper.
