Answers to the most common questions about our geomembrane products.
Maybe. Some of the key elements in this scenario are whether it is a new tree that is not yet (or very recently) planted, or an established, mature tree. The distance from the tree trunk to the property line, state law, and your goals are all important factors. We strongly urge consulting with an ISA Certified Arborist before taking any action. You can search for an arborist in your area here. Please contact us with the details of your site by e-mail at [email protected] or telephone at 800.458.7668.
You can learn more about how to control bamboo using our Bamboo Barriers here, or by reading our blog entries about it.
Roots are attracted to lawns because it is an easy source of water, oxygen and other nutrition. Using DeepRoot root guidance panels will not prevent some roots from surfacing on the lawn. The only way to prevent roots from surfacing in a lawn is to block them from entering the lawn area. In this case using the Water Barrier materials will prevent roots from reaching an area.
Caution: Water Barrier will not guide roots downward. It is critical that the base of the tree be a minimum of 8′ from the installation point of the Water Barrier. Consult with your local Certified Arborist prior to use.
DeepRoot Water Barrier will prevent root intrusion underneath a foundation, septic tank or retaining wall. Please see the application details on our Water Barrier technical sheet.

Yes! As long as there is at least 8′ between the trunk of the tree and your rose garden in order to provide adequate anchorage for the tree, you can install the Water Barrier material to prevent root intrusion. Please see the project photos from the Brooklyn Botanic Garden for an example of this technique.
