Princeton Park, Orlando, FL – Root Pruning

In 1989 the tennis and basketball courts at Princeton Park in Orlando, Florida had been severely damaged by root intrusion and were unusable. Andy Kittsley, Urban Forester for the City of Orlando was determined to maintain the large, mature oak trees on the site. The roots were pruned and DeepRoot UB 24-2 installed to direct the roots downward. Just beyond the DeepRoot sub-surface root trenches were built to provide a growing area well below grade to ensure adequate soil volume for future growth. 14 years later the courts are in perfect condition. The project was so successful it was featured in the December 2000 issue of Arborist News.
